Why Ramanah Greens?

Quality Control

Quality is our habit so quality control is of significant importance to Ramanah Greens. We always keep a close eye on the quality throughout the production process. We have our own logistics department to selectively procure coconut husks (raw material) from coconut farms who strictly meet our quality standards.

The raw materials are stored in a controlled ambience for a very short duration and then immediately processed to minimize natural bruising. The coco fibre and coco peat are dried under natural sunlight on clean concrete floors before compressed into bales and briquettes, respectively. Our manufacturing facility receives 300 days of bright sunlight in a year. We also have weed control processes in place to prevent any possible contamination.

Production Process

Coir Fibre

We extract coco fibres by decorticating or beating the coconut husks. The fibres are then sift via a revolving sieve to separate the coco peat before dried in the sun. We then grade the fibres based on their thickness & length (effective surface area) and compress them into bales.

Typical length of our fibres is between 8 to 10 inches (200 – 250 mm) with an average thickness of 0.15 – 0.25 mm. Our fibres are excellent for use in growing media owing to their large surface area.

Production Process

Cocopeat

Coco peat is a by-product of the fibre extraction process. They are separated from the fibres during the decortication or beating process by sifting. The sifted coco peat is then transported immediately to our storage facility where they are naturally cured for approximately six months.

They are then subjected to further treatments, e.g. washing and drying to remove freely soluble elements such as chlorine which in turn reduces the electrical conductivity (EC) of the coco peat.

The coco peat may also undergo a buffering process (if necessary) to remove the monovalent ions from the cellulose matrix. The buffered/salt content reduced peat is then sun-dried and compressed into 5 kg bricks and briquettes for shipping in our pressing shop.
